SMAT - Delhi vs Tamil Nādu: In a nail-biting Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Delhi pulled off a dramatic last-ball victory against Tamil Nadu — thanks to Himmat Singh’s icy-cool finish.
With 2 runs needed off the final delivery, Himmat stepped up under pressure and launched Gurjapneet Singh over point. Tamil Nadu’s Shahrukh Khan attempted a tough catch but couldn’t hold on, and the ball sailed over for a six, sending the Delhi camp into wild celebrations. This came moments after a tense run-out scare on the previous ball.

Delhi’s Chase: Fast, Fearless & On Point
Chasing a big target of 199, Delhi began explosively as Yash Dhull and Priyansh Arya struck a 52-run partnership inside just 5.1 overs.
Arya smashed a fiery 35 off 15 balls
Dhull carried the momentum with a classy 71 off 46 (4 fours, 4 sixes)
Skipper Nitish Rana (34 off 26) played a key hand, and later Ayush Badoni’s calm 41 off 23 ensured Delhi stayed in control during the tense finish.
Tamil Nadu’s Strong Start Goes in Vain
Earlier, Tamil Nadu posted a competitive total thanks to blazing half-centuries by:
Tushar Raheja – 72 off 41 balls
Amit Sathvik – 54 off 40 balls
Despite the big scores, their bowlers couldn’t defend the total. Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy had an off day, finishing with 0/47.
Tournament Standings
Delhi opens its SMAT campaign with a confidence-boosting win.
Tamil Nadu remains winless after two matches and will need a quick turnaround.
